Hello everyone,

The thriller “Other Mommy” came in just below expectations but still was #1 with $27.8 million (3-day) and $30.6 (4-day). Last week’s #1 movie “Verity” fell 62% but still came in at #2 with $12 million (3-day) and $13.6 (4-day). “Digger”, which bombed in its opening weekend last week, fell even further dropping 60% and coming in at #8 with just $2.1 million (3-day) and $3.7 million (4-day). Its box office total is just $15 million so far.

WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: “Resident Evil” came back to the top of the international box office thanks to it’s $35 million debut in China. “Other Mommy” made a worldwide total of $45.1 million and “Social Reckoning” bombed worldwide with a total of only $9 million (although many people note that it cost A LOT LESS than “Digger” to make). “Digger” current worldwide total is at $36 million after 2 weeks.
OTHER NEWS:
Last week the new “Skydance” company said they WOULDN’T be combining “Paramount+” and “HBOMAX” but then they changed their mind. They say that short term they’ll package them together and long term the different streaming channels will merge into one.
The “Bay Theater” in Pacific Palisades which has been closed for about 18 months since the Pacific Palisades wildfires will be remodeled and will reopen before the end of this year. Paramount Pictures will now own the theater (formerly owned by Netflix before the wildfires)
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: HBOMAX is part of the Warner Bros/Paramount merger, and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” is on HBOMAX.

On the most recent episode of “Last Week Tonight” John Oliver mentioned how much he hates the new “Liberty Biberty” mascot. He suggested that fans start a “I want to f**k Liberty Biberty” social media campaign. It worked in New Zealand when a bank had a mascot some people called “sexy goat”. The show had an artist on his crew draw some sexy poses (see screenshot above) to start the ball rolling. At the very end of the episode, he announced
“I’m thrilled to be part of the Skydance family! Hope you’re happy with what you bought, guys! We’re never gonna change!”
For more info you can check out the Oct 11 episode of “Last Week Tonight” (if you have HBOMAX – very end of the episode) or a video of the segment is posted at this link. There’s also stories about the segment on various websites including Deadline (the headline above is from Deadline) and Hollywood Reporter.
