Hello everyone,
BOX OFFICE: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is STILL the #1 movie at the domestic box office for the 6th weekend but it’s not in the most theaters. “Coyote Vs Acme” added 152 screens so it’s now at 3727 screens. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” lost about 160 screens so it’s now on 3520 screens. However, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is now the 2nd movie to make more than $900 million at the domestic box office. Its current total is $917 million. It will soon be the BIGGEST MOVIE AT THE DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE since it’s less than $20 million away from the #1 movie at the domestic box office “Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens”. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, of course, is also the fastest to $900 million at the domestic box office. It made $18 million (3-day) and $23.7 million (4-day holiday weekend) this past weekend. “The Odyssey” rose to #2 on the holiday weekend domestic box office with $13 million (3-day) and $17.2 million (4-day). “The Odyssey” domestic total is now $584.8 million which makes it the #2 movie of 2026 but it’s WAY behind “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. “Coyote Vs Acme” was #3 with $11.9 (3-day) and $16.1 (4-day).
Overall, the domestic holiday weekend was $118 million (4-day) and $92.5 million (3-day) which is down 10% from the previous weekend but the BIG NEWS is that this summer’s domestic box office is the BIGGEST SUMMER DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE EVER!!!!! The total from May to Labor Day was $4.76 BILLION thanks to movies like “Toy Story 5”, “The Odyssey” and especially “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. It was just ahead of the domestic total for summer 2013 which was the previous biggest.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: For the first time, “The Odyssey” made more than “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” at the international box office this past weekend. It’s now the 17th movie that has made $1 BILLION at the international box office (“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” did it earlier this summer). However, it’s still way behind “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” which has a worldwide box office of $2.41 BILLION (currently #3 on the ALL-TIME WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE). “The Odyssey” has a worldwide total of $1.64 BILLION.
OTHER NEWS:
- They recently announced that the 50th Anniversary release of the original “Star Wars” next year will be shown in 70mm IMAX for the first time ever (although it will be letterboxed since it wasn’t filmed that way) and the new “Star Wars Starfighter” will also be released in 70mm IMAX. That movie was “Filmed for Imax” but not filmed in IMAX 70mm.
- It was recently announced that “The Odyssey” will CONTINUE to play in IMAX 70mm in a few theaters until the end of September.
- It was reported that pre-sale tickets for “Avengers Doomsday” have ALREADY made over $50 million although it’s still over 3 months away from release.
- Netflix just announced that they will FINALLY report actual box office numbers for its wide theatrical releases in the future.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: SPOILERS WARNING

“Coyote Vs Acme” isn’t breaking box office records (currently $32.4 million domestically) but it is playing on MORE SCREENS THAN ANY OTHER MOVIE right now. It’s also got great reviews online including comments about the scene mentioned above. If you want to read all the comments on the above post, click on this link.
