Hello everyone,

Here are all the records broken during the week last week…..

  • “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the BIGGEST MONDAY EVER at the domestic box office with $47 million AND the 2nd fastest movie to reach $1 BILLION at the worldwide box office (“Avengers Endgame” did it in 3 days).
  • “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the BIGGEST TUESDAY EVER at the domestic box office with $42 million.
  • “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the fastest to cross HALF BILLION at the domestic box office.  It made it in 7 days.
  • “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the biggest Hollywood release of ALL TIME in India

BOX OFFICE: “Spider-Man Brand New Day” was #1 with the 3rd best second weekend at the domestic box office ever with $145 million.  It is now the #1 movie of 2026 so far with a domestic total of $654 million and the #10 movie on the ALL-TIME DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE LIST.  “The Odyssey” was second going down 38% and making $31 million.  It’s now the 3rd biggest movie at the domestic box office for 2026 so far with $470 million (“Toy Story 5” has $470 million).

This weekend’s total domestic box office went down 54% to $203 million total. 

Thanks to “The Odyssey”, “Spider-Man Brand New Day”, and “Toy Story 5” (the current top 3 movies of 2026 at the domestic and worldwide box office), this summer’s domestic box office will cross $4 BILLION sometime this week.  That’s only the 2nd time it’s made that much post-COVID.  Hopefully there will be some movies that hold up the box office until the big movies come in December.

WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE:  “Spider-Man Brand New Day” is now the 16th movie to make $1 BILLION at the INTERNATIONAL box office (over 60 movies have made over $1 BILLION worldwide but only 16 have made $1 BILLION WITHOUT THE DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE).  Its worldwide total is now $1.664 BILLION which makes it the #1 movie of 2026 so far.  “The Odyssey” is now the biggest movie ever at the worldwide box office for Christopher Nolan recently passing “The Dark Knight” (although it’s still behind “The Dark Knight” at the domestic box office).  Its worldwide total is now $1.111 BILLION which makes it the #2 movie at the worldwide box office for 2026 so far.

OTHER NEWS:

  • Paramount recently announced that it will release 30 films a year theatrically after the Warner Bros/Paramount merger is complete.  However, Cinema United still isn’t swayed and still opposes the merger.

LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR:

Coincidentally, this morning’s comic strip in the Los Angeles Times had 2 different comics with jokes about movies right next to each other.  (I personally think “Speed Bump” is a little funnier than “Bliss”).
