Hello everyone,

BOX OFFICE: “Minions and Monsters” topped the domestic box office but was WAY BELOW box office predictions.  It made only $62 million over the 5-day weekend (Wednesday thru Sunday) and only $37 million for the 3-day weekend.  This is the lowest opening weekend of the “Despicable Me/Minions” franchise.    It was expected to make as much as $100 million over the 5-day weekend like what the last movie “Despicable Me 3” made ($99 million 5-day and $72 million opening weekend).  “Toy Story 5” was second over the holiday weekend with $30 million over the 3-day.  It’s now made $365 million since it opened making it the #3 movie of 2026 so far (passing “Project Hail Mary” which has $345 million).  The #3 movie was the independent movie “Young Washington” which made $19 million (it opened Friday so it was only playing 3-day).  “Supergirl” went down a whopping 77% on its second weekend and has only made $57 million since it opened the previous weekend.  “Minions and Monsters” has ALREADY passed the total “Supergirl” domestic box office.

Total domestic weekend made $117 million which is down approx. 25% from the previous weekend.  The 5-day weekend total wasn’t listed.

WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: Although there were no holidays in other countries, “Minions and Monsters” was strong internationally making $85 million.  Its worldwide total is now $147 million.  “Toy Story 5” is now the #3 movie of 2026 so far with $763 million worldwide total.  “Michael” is inches away from passing $1 Billion.  It’s at $991.4 million so far.

OTHER NEWS:

What some are calling an “A.I. Actress”, Tilly Norwood is scheduled to star in her first feature film titled “Misaligned” although others are saying “she’s an actor like the “Minions” or “Buzz Lightyear” are actors.”

LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: There’s an old joke “What is Beethoven’s favorite fruit”…..

The joke has resurfaced because it’s the Minion’s favorite fruit too.  (see this link).
