Here’s something a little different: I’m recommending a BOOK about movies….
If you have ever enjoyed the movie parodies in MAD magazine, I just read a book you’ll NEED to get……
Way back in 2020, I contributed to a sort of Kickstarter campaign (on the “Indiegogo” website) that Desmond Devlin (longtime MAD magazine writer) and Tom Richmond (longtime MAD magazine illustrator) were doing. A book with movies that were never parodied in MAD Magazine. A little over 3 years later, I received this book in the mail today. It was so funny that I just read the ENTIRE book in one sitting.
There are 12 HYSTERICAL parodies of the movies: “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”, “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Psycho”, “Goodfellas”, “The Big Lebowski”, “Toy Story 4”, “Unforgiven”, “Blade Runner”, “The Blues Brothers”, “The Princess Bride”, “Citizen Kane”, and “Die Hard”. Plus, there are some short jokes about other movies such as “Right Quote – Wrong Movie”.
Also, the book is beautifully put together with full color glossy pages (except for the black and white movies). I think one of the reasons it took so long to finish the book is because they wanted everything in the book to be perfect.
