Spike Jonze revealed some scenes from his upcoming film title ‘Her’ featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson in the lead roles. The story essentially revolves around a man falling in love with a sentient operating system. I’d say under anything other than the stewardship of Jonze, this concept wouldn’t really jump out at me. But, knowing Mr. Jonze is at the helm definitely makes me want to give this film a shot.
I suppose it remains to be seen if he can avoid what seem like might be obvious cliches that could come part and parcel with a story like this, but I suppose I would have said the same prior to seeing ‘Being John Malkovich’ or ‘Adaptation’, both of which were quite good.
