BOX OFFICE: Due to the Olympics and the Super Bowl, the domestic box office slumped this weekend with no movie making more than $10 million. Last week’s #1 movie “Send Help” retained it’s #1 spot with $9 million. The new romantic comedy “Solo Mio” was 2nd with $7 million. Last week’s #2 “Iron Lung” went down to #3 with $6 million. The K-Pop groups concert movie “Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience” was #4 with $5.6 million. However, it had the highest per screen average for a wide release making $3304 average on 1724 screens (the #1 movie made $2603 average on 3475 screens).
Overall, the total domestic box office went down almost 30% to $60.789 million total.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: Worldwide, “Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience” was the biggest moneymaker with just shy of $20 million worldwide. “Zootopia 2” was once again the biggest American movie worldwide with $16.8 million. Its total box office is now passing $1.8 billion. Also, A24 now has a new biggest grossing movie ever with “Marty Supreme” which is just shy of $150 million worldwide total.

Yesterday’s Superbowl premiered several new trailers or promos for movies including “Michael” (the biopic of Michael Jackson), “Supergirl” (spinoff/sequel), “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” (sequel), “Disclosure Day” (Steven Spielberg wrote the story and directed the movie), “The Adventures of Cliff Booth” (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” spinoff), “Project Hail Mary” (new space movie starring Ryan Gosling), “Hoppers” (Pixar’s new movie this spring), “Minions and Monsters” (sequel/spinoff), and “The Mandalorian and Grogu” (based on the spinoff TV series).
Over the weekend, “One Battle After Another” won the Directors Guild Award for best feature. So, that makes him a lock to win the Academy Awards.
Last week, Disney announced that their new CEO replacing Bob Iger soon. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro has been elevated to CEO and Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden has been named President and Chief Creative Officer, a newly created role.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: The “Melania” documentary fell a whopping two thirds – from $7.1 million to $2.3 million – but it’s still getting some controversy. Notably on Rotten Tomatoes…..

That’s possibly the biggest disparities in Rotten Tomatoes history!!! Plus, the critics reviews were previously as low as 5%.
