Hello everyone,
BOX OFFICE: The final weekend of 2025 was pretty quiet. The only surprising thing was “Marty Supreme” moving from limited release to wide release. It beat new movie releases and came in at #3 with $17.7 million. “Avatar Fire and Ash” retained its #1 spot with $63 million. Its domestic total is slightly above $215 million. “Zootopia 2” which was #5 last week moved back up to #2 with $19.8 million. Its domestic total is now slightly above $320 million. For the new movies, “Anaconda” was #5 with #14.5 million.
The total domestic box office was down just 3% from the previous weekend with $173.4 million total. So, it looks like the total domestic box office for 2025 will finish BARELY ahead of 2024.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: Worldwide, “Avatar Fire and Ash” also dominated the international box office. Its worldwide total is now $760.4 million which puts it at #6 for the top movies at the worldwide box office for 2025. Meanwhile, “Zootopia 2” is now OFFICIALLY the biggest US movie of 2025 worldwide with $1.422 billion right now and possibly over $1.5 billion by Jan 1st. However, the #1 movie at the 2025 worldwide box office – “Ne Zha 2” – is well above it at over $2.15 billion.
OTHER NEWS:
Two big movies that come out in about year released their teaser trailers last week. First the highly anticipated “Avengers Doomsday” movie which comes out Dec 18, 2026 teaser trailer shows that the first Captain America Steve Rogers – who now apparently has a baby – will be in the movie. I’m guessing that there will be several “(name) will be in “Avengers Doomsday” trailers coming in the next few months. The trailer can been seen at this link. The other is the John Madden biopic directed by David O Russell and starring Nicholas Cage as John Madden and Christian Bale as Al Davis which will be coming out on Thanksgiving 2026. The teaser can ca be seen at this link.
Most people are saying that “Avatar Fire and Ash” le are saying that “Avatar Fire and Ash” will pass $1 billion globally soon but if it makes it into the top 5 of the ALL TIME BOX OFFICE MOVIES (which means it will need to make at least $2.1 billion – higher than the current #1 movie of 2025) is VERY DOUBTFUL. So, James Cameron recently claimed that if the 3rd movie isn’t as big as the previous 2 movies he will have a press conference to announce if the 4th and 5th movies (currently scheduled for
The “Stranger Things” final episode was always scheduled for a theatrical release but HOW MANY theaters keeps expanding. They keep adding movie theater screens as the tickets keep selling out. Originally scheduled for “about 350 theaters over Dec 31 – Jan 1”. Then right before ticket pre-sales started the theater count jumped to over 500 theaters. Now, it’s supposedly over 3500 showtimes on over 625 screens with already over 1.1 tickets pre-sold. They can’t officially say the box office for the screenings because “due to talent residual complications related to the distribution of TV series, the theatrical screenings of the Stranger Things closer are not a ticketed event, with the seat reservation fee ($20 at AMC, for instance) converted into a concession voucher”.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: Someone PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.

HOW IS THIS A THING??? You know if you a start a movie that’s UNDER 2 hours before 10pm on Dec 31 you can be ASLEEP AR MIDNIGHT!!!!!
