Hello everyone,

BOX OFFICE: Although “Avatar Fire and Ash” is still expected to make over $1 BILLION globally, it won’t do it until well into 2026.  It was the #1 movie last weekend, but it only made $89 million.  The religious movie “David” was #2 with $22 million – the best opening weekend ever for Angel Studios.  The Lionsgate movie “The Housemaid” was #3 with $19 million and the animated “The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants” was #4 with $15 million.

Overall, the total domestic weekend box office was $179 million which was up $100 million more than the previous weekend.

WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: Worldwide, “Avatar Fire and Ash” was the 2nd highest worldwide opening weekend for an American movie in 2025 with $345 million.  The only opening weekend that was higher was “Zootopia 2” a couple weeks ago.  Thanks to “Zootopia 2” and “Avatar Fire and Ash”, Disney could be the first movie studio to pass $6 billion at the worldwide box office in 1 year since the pandemic started.

OTHER NEWS:

The fight over Warner Bros Discovery continues:  Warner Bros rejected Paramount’s takeover offer, so Paramount just revised its offer and proposed it again to Warner Bros Discovery shareholders.

Disney did a little movie reshuffling recently moving the horror sequel “Ready or Not 2:Here I Come” up from April to Mar 27, 2026 and moved the sci fi thriller “The Dog Stars” from March 27 to end of summer Aug 28, 2026 (some people were waiting for a trailer for that movie – now they know why one hasn’t come out yet).

LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: I remember the very first time I watched the first “Home Alone” movie I thought that some of the things that young Kevin did would probably severely injure or even kill the robbers.  Well, 35 years later, someone else got the same idea.  This Saturday Night Live sketch is from last weekend
