Hello everyone,

BOX OFFICE: Last week’s #1 movie “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle” went down approx. 75% in its second weekend but still retained the #1 spot making $17.3 million.  The new release “Him” was second with $13.2 million.  The only other major studio release was “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” which bombed with just $3.2 million (less than $1000 per screen) coming in 6th on the domestic charts.

Overall, the total domestic box office went down about 50% to $71.4 million which is almost the same amount that “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle” made on its opening weekend.

WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle” is also doing well internationally and is now the biggest box office for an anime movie EVER with $555 million.  Another box office record broken this past weekend is “The Conjuring: Last Rites” is now the biggest movie in its franchise – which probably means it WON’T be the final movie of the franchise.  On the other hand, “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” also did poorly internationally.  Its worldwide gross is just $7.7 million.

OTHER NEWS:

AMC announced that a NEW Taylor Swift movie “Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” will be opening in just two weeks for one weekend (Oct 3-5) and has already made over $15 million in pre-sale tickets.

Joseph Kosinski, director of “F1” and “Top Gun Maverick” announced that his next movie will be a movie reboot of “Miami Vice” and is already dated to come out on Aug 6, 2027.

Christopher Nolan just became the new president of the DGA.  I hope he won’t be too busy with his movie coming out next summer because new union contract negotiations might be happening around the same time.

LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: Things are really crazy on some internet sites these days.

First, pre-orders for the Taylor Swift movie slowed down the entire AMC website…even if you didn’t want Taylor Swift tickets.

Then, so many people protesting Disney/ABC cancelling the Jimmy Kimmel talk show canceled their Disney+ or Hulu accounts the websites and apps froze.
