Hello everyone,
BOX OFFICE: The summer movie season came crawling to a close with “Weapons” jumping back to #1 and the 50th anniversary re-release of “Jaws” beating all the new movie releases. “Weapons” is the only move to make over $10 million. It made $10.47 million for the 3-day and $13 million for the 4-day holiday weekend. The re-release of “Jaws” made almost $10 million – actually $9.89 million – over 4 days and $8.2 million over 3-days. The new release “Caught Stealing” was #3 with $7.85 million 3-day but went down to #4 with $7.85 for the 4-day (“Freakier Friday” made $8.74 million for 3rd on the 4-day and $6.7 million for 4th on for the 3-day weekend). The new release “The Roses” was 5th with $6.26 million for 3-day and $7.758 million for the 4-day.
The overall summer box office limped to a close with a domestic total of just $63.6 million. That’s the 5th lowest total domestic box office of 2025. It hasn’t been lower than that since March. The 4-day weekend was $79.1 million.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: It was also a pretty slow weekend worldwide. “Fantastic Four: First Steps” rose above a $500 million worldwide total. “Superman” was slightly ahead of “F1” until this weekend. “F1” worldwide total box office is now almost $614 million, and “Superman” worldwide box office total is now $611.6 million. Unlike the domestic totals, the worldwide box office for “The Roses” was $17.2 million which was higher than the worldwide gross of “Caught Stealing” which was $14.9 million.
