Hello everyone,
BOX OFFICE: It looks like the summer box office is starting to wind down although there’s technically still a month left. “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” retained the #1 spot although it sunk over two thirds (67%) to $38 million for its 2nd weekend. Still, it’s almost at $200 million domestic total. The biggest new movie was “The Bad Guys 2” which made $21.9 million at #2 followed by “The Naked Gun” reboot which made $16.8 million. #4 was “Superman” with $13.7 million and “Jurassic World Rebirth” was 5th with just $8.7 million but both movies just passed $310 million for their total domestic box office.
Overall total domestic box office was $120 million which is 35% lower than last week.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” also sunk 54% in international countries making $40 million for a worldwide total of $368 million. “F1” is now approaching $550 million worldwide which would make it Brad Pitts highest worldwide gross ever. For the new movies, “The Bad Guys 2” made $16.3 million internationally for a worldwide total of $44.5 million and “The Naked Gun” made $11.5 million for a worldwide total of $28.5 million. “Jurassic World Rebirth” is now approaching $770 million worldwide and “Superman” just passed $550 million worldwide. Unless something surprising happens, it looks like “Lilo & Stitch” will rule the summer being the only US movie so far in 2025 to cross $1 BILLION worldwide.
OTHER NEWS:
They announced that the original “Star Wars” will be returning to movie theaters for it’s 50th anniversary but don’t start making pans yet. It’s 50th anniversary is in April 2027. “A long long time…” from now.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR:
This one made me do a double take….

No, it’s not a joke. According to the Wall Street Journal:
“Riding to the rescue are drone cowhands, whose quadcopters have thermal cameras that can reveal any wolf lurking in the darkness and bathe it in a spotlight. A loudspeaker broadcasts alarming sounds like fireworks, gunshots and people arguing. One recording is of the fight between Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in the movie Marriage Story…”
Hey, if it works it works.
