Hello everyone,

VERY BIG MOVIE NEWS announced yesterday.  So big that all the major newspapers are covering it, not just the entertainment news.

The control of the James Bond franchise has been transferred to Amazon/MGM.  The longtime producers and controllers of the franchise – Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli – will continue to be co-owner but will have less involvement with the future of James Bond.

Although the deal won’t be complete for a few months, Jeff Bezo jumped online the same day to start asking people who should be the next James Bond.

Some reports say that the relationship between the former owners and the new Amazon/MGM studio meant that there was a chance there would NEVER be another James Bond movie, but Amazon/MGM couldn’t let it go since one of the main reasons Amazon took over MGM was to obtain the James Bond movies.  So, reports are that Amazon paid over $1 BILLION to the former owners for control.  .  Some reports say they’re considering making it a whole franchise like the Harry Potter or Star Wars franchises with multiple movies and TV shows

Close contacts to the previous owners say that losing control is like “losing a member of the family” but – (SPOILER if you haven’t seen “No Time To Die”) since the most recent version of Bond has ended (end of SPOILER) – it seemed like a good time to give control to Amazon/MGM.
