Hello everyone,
(I thought that this past weekend was a 4-day holiday weekend due to Veterans Day, but apparently it isn’t)
BOX OFFICE: This past weekend none of the new releases were big box office winners although they did beat predictions. The biggest was A24 release “Heretic” which made $11 million for #2 om the weekend chart followed by the Lionsgate release “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (little early for that if you ask me) which made $10.75 million for #3 (if you add the Monday box office they both made around $12 million for the 4 day weekend). They were both expected to make less than $10 million. The #1 movie was “Venom The Last Dance” again which went down approx. 39% on its 3rd weekend to make $15.9 million (4 day weekend was approx. $18 million). Last weeks biggest new opening “Here” dropped down to #8 this week with $2.4 million 3-day. The movie “Anora” which had a great per screen average a couple weeks ago has now expanded to over 1000 screens and is #7 with $2.5 million 3-day. According to reports, “Juror #2” expanded to a few more cities this past weekend (although it was previously reported it wouldn’t) but Warner Bros is still not announcing the box office gross for the movie.
Overall, the domestic box office was down approx. 4% from the previous weekend for a $68.874 million domestic total. This is down approx. 22% from the same weekend last year which was the opening weekend for “The Marvels”.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: “Venom The Last Dance” is still doing well internationally making another $33 million for a worldwide total approaching $400 million. The second biggest movie at the international box office was this weekend was “Red One” (which opens next weekend domestically) which made $26.6 million in foreign countries this past weekend. “Wild Robot: picked up another $9 million internationally and is approaching $300 million worldwide.
Also, this past weekend another early release for 1 foreign country. “Paddington in Peru” (which doesn’t open until Jan 2025 in the US) had the biggest opening in the UK for a British film since 2021. It made £9.65 million ($12.4 million).
OTHER NEWS: Despite the company saying that Landmark Theaters will continue to operate, a couple days ago the owners of the theater chain had a foreclosure auction. However, Landmark Theaters got no offers at the auction. The other theater chain the company owns in the UK – “Curzon” – got an offer for $5 million.
Yesterday they announced the new name for the next (and possible final?) Mission Impossible movie coming next summer. It’s called “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning”. You can see the new teaser trailer here.
As I’ve said before, I believe that EVERY major actor or actress will be in at least 1 Marvel or DC movie. The latest news is that Denzel Washington on a press tour for “Gladiator 2” said that he’ll be in “Black Panther 3”. He said he can almost count the roles he’ll do before he retires. He plans on acting in the movies or live theater in “Black Panther 3” (he says the director is writing a part for him), Othello (movie or live theater), playing Hannibal in a movie directed by Antoine Fuqua, probably another movie with director Spike Lee and/or a movie with director Steve McQueen, and then King Lear (movie or live theater) and then he’ll probably retire.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR:

I recently watched some of “Pretty Woman” on cable and I was reminded of the many movie mistakes. Probably the most famous is the one above where a croissant magically turns into a pancake. There is another mistake right after. She takes a second bite of the pancake but a few seconds later there’s only one bite in it (just like the lower picture).
