Hello everyone,
This email is dedicated to actress Teri Garr who passed away a few days ago and also to the people laid off this past week (see below)….
BOX OFFICE: The new releases this past weekend didn’t do very well. The Tom Hanks/Robin Wright/Robert Zemeckis reunion movie “Here” only made approx. $5 million coming in 5th on the domestic box office list. The smaller releases “A Real Pain” and “Juror #2” only in limited release didn’t make it into the top 20 (Warner Bros didn’t officially report the box office for “Juror #2” but it’s estimated it made approx. $260-275 thousand). The #1 release is the same as the previous week. “Venom: The Last Dance” made almost $26 million which is approx. a 50% decline from the opening weekend.
The total domestic box office was around $71.5 million which is down approx. 24% from the previous weekend but up approx. 22% more that the same weekend last year.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: “Venom The Last Dance” is doing much better in foreign countries. It’s total worldwide box office passed $315 million this past weekend although it’s domestic total is only about $90 million. “Juror #2” was released in select international countries and made a decent $5 million total. Also, “The Wild Robot” is close to $150 million internationally and $270 million worldwide and “It Ends With Us” is still doing pretty well internationally passing $200 million and a worldwide total of almost $350 million.
OTHER NEWS: This past week’s layoffs came from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who laid off approx. 16 people – or approx. 2% of their workforce. Most of the layoffs were in the collecting/archive/preservation department.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR: I mentioned in my movie review of “Juror #2” that it may be Clint Eastwoods next movie but……

According to his official Twitter account he’s still going strong at 94 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!
