Hello everyone,
BOX OFFICE: “Deadpool and Wolverine” continued to dominate the box office all last week. Last week it was the highest Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for an R rated movie ever. It was #1 for this past weekend going down approx. 54% to make $96 million and almost $400 million domestic total. That makes it the #8 highest 2nd domestic weekend ever (right below “Inside Out 2” from a couple weeks ago) and the #1 highest 2nd weekend for an R rated movie. It’s also now the biggest R rated movie at the domestic box office EVER and the 2nd highest box office for 2024 so far (right below “Inside Out 2”) – after only 11 days.
The #2 movie was “Twisters” again with $22.8 million and the new movie “Trap” pretty much met expectations with $15.5 million coming in at #3. The other new movie release “Harold and the Purple Crayon” disappointed making $6 million and coming in at #6.
Overall domestic box office went down 40% from the previous weekend to make $170 million. That makes it the 3rd best weekend for 2024 so far (after last weekend and the weekend “Inside Out 2” opened). The same weekend last year was slightly higher with $176 million.
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: “Deadpool and Wolverine” also did well worldwide hitting a worldwide total of $824 million which makes it #2 at the worldwide box office for 2024 so far. That and “Inside Out 2” helped Disney reach $3 BILLION total worldwide box office. “Inside Out 2” is still doing well internationally passing a worldwide total of $1.55 billion which makes it #10 on the all-time worldwide box office list – the biggest movie since “Avatar The Wat of Water”.
OTHER NEWS:
The teamsters ratified their new contract last week, but you may still see picketing around movie studios because the SAG-AFTRA actors union went on strike against the video game companies last week. A lot of the studios also have a video game company.
There is still no scheduled release date for Kevin Costner’s sequel “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2” but they announced that the sequel will be shown at the Venice Film Festival in September.
LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR:

If this were real I would occasionally use it……but I’d also be afraid that someone would use it on me.
