Hello everyone,
BOX OFFICE: I believe this is the only weekend in March where there isn’t a major studio release (unless you count Lionsgate as a major studio). The #1 and #2 movies remained the same as the previous week. “Kung Fu Panda 4” went down almost 50% to $30 million and stayed #1, “Dune Part 2” went down almost 40% to $28 million and stayed #2. The Lionsgate new release “Arthur the King” made only $7.6 million for #3 on the weekend box office. Overall, the weekend went down 36% from the previous weekend to $87 million total. Next weeks “Ghostbusters Frozen Empire” should boost the box office again. “Kung Fu Panda 4” is now the #2 biggest domestic movie of 2024 (so far).
WORLDWIDE BOX OFFICE: Worldwide, “Dune Part 2” is still dominating and now approaching $500 million worldwide total with another $51 million internationally this past weekend. “Kung Fu Panda 2” is approaching a worldwide total of almost $180 million after an additional $40 million in foreign countries this past weekend. “Kung Fu Panda 4” is also now the worldwide #2 movie of 2024 (so far) after rising past “Bob Marley One Love” (almost $170 million) and “The Beekeeper” ($152 million) this past weekend.
RELEASE NEWS: The 3rd “Venom” movie coming out at the end of this year is now titled “Venom The Last Dance” and it’s release date has now been moved up a couple weeks from Nov 8 to Oct 25, 2024.
It was recently announced that Warner Bros has moved the “Salems Lot” remake from theatrical release to streaming. It was originally scheduled to come out in the fall of 2022 but was removed from the schedule. WB didn’t mention the release date, but they announced it will be released on MAX. I guess the great comment from writer Stephen King – who posted the below on Twitter last month – doesn’t mean anything to them.

LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR:

After the movie….and then the sequels…..and then the remake…..and then the reboot…..it could look more like a rotten tomato
