Hello everyone,
3 quick news items:
BOX OFFICE: After “Dune Part 2” was delayed until next year, there isn’t a major studio release this weekend (although there is a few wide releases from smaller studios) so they decided to re-release “Oppenheimer” in IMAX theaters for an additional 1 week run starting today until next Thurs when “The Marvels” comes out. A few theaters are even showing it in 70mm IMAX film. I think they’re trying to get the movie closer to $1 BILLION worldwide box office, but I doubt it will happen. It’s been stuck at around $940-45 million for the last couple weeks (it only made about $100 thousand domestically last weekend).
STRIKE NEWS: It turns out that the actors deal wasn’t done by the end of October but there’s anticipation that it could be done soon since news reports today say that the studios sent the actors union a brand new proposal today and there’s further discussions scheduled for this weekend.
OTHER NEWS: This week Disney took over the Hulu streaming channel after it offered approx. $8.6 billion for Comcasts percentage of the company. So, expect more Disney movies and TV shows on Hulu from now on. They announced today that the Marvel TV series “Echo” will premiere on Disney+ AND Hulu. It’s the first Marvel TV series that will be rated “MA”
