2023 is now halfway over. So, far, the score is doing OK.
- “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” – I skipped watching this one. I might catch it on Disney+
- “Elemental” – I saw it and liked it.
- “The Flash” – I saw it but didn’t like it.
- “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” – I saw it and liked it.
- “Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny” – I liked the movie on its own, but it’s the worst Indiana Jones movie because it doesn’t have the same feel as the previous 4 movies.
- “The Machine” – It had some really funny scenes but not that good.
- “No Hard Feelings” – It was OK.
- “Quasi” – I completely forgot about this movie. I remember checking to see if the movie was playing in theaters – it wasn’t. I never got around to watching it on a streaming service.
So, the score for the year is tied 3 (movies I liked and would recommend) to 3 (didn’t like or skipped). There were also 2 runs that didn’t score (wouldn’t recommend). However, if you count all the movies I had no plans to see, the year is losing by A LOT.
There are some big hitters coming up for the 2nd half.
- “A Haunting in Venice” (Sept 15th) The trailer for the next Hercule Poirot movie looks pretty good.
- “Ferrari” (TBA) – Neon just acquired the distribution rights to the Michael Mann directed biopic and supposedly it’s coming at the end of the year.
- “The Killer” (TBA) – Netflix is scheduled to release the David Fincher biopic sometime at the end of this year.
- NEW ADDITION: “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Oct 2023) – The new trailer they just released looks really good so it’s a new addition to the list.
- “The Marvels” (pushed back to Nov 10) – The trailer for the last Marvel movie for this year looks funny.
- “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” (July 12) – I already have plans to see it. The trailers look really good.
- NEW ADDITION: “Napoleon” (Nov 22) – They showed an INCREDIBLE clip of the movie at CinemaCon and the brand new trailer also looks really good.
- “Oppenheimer” (July 21) – I’ve already got tickets to see it in 70mm IMAX film
- “Wonka” (Dec 15) – The preview shown at CinemaCon (which I believe will be released soon) was very funny.
(I haven’t heard much news about “Borderlands” or “Wolfs“ so they might not be coming in the 2nd half of 2023)
