Hello everyone,
- This past weekend the box office came roaring back to life with “Black Adam” making a good $67 million and “Ticket to Paradise” making a pretty good $16 million. Overall, the weekend made $113 million which was the 3rd highest non-summer and non-holiday weekend of the year and the best weekend since mid-July.
- However, the box office might be going back into a lull for the next 2 weeks. Next weekend there’s only one wide release – the horror/thriller “Prey for the Devil” – and a couple small releases opening wider. The following weekend there’s NO wide releases scheduled. However, people are predicting “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” will have a HUGE opening in 3 weeks. The current estimates are $175 million opening weekend.
- Worldwide “Black Adam” did $140 million so internationally it made just a little over what it did domestically. “Ticket to Paradise” added to it’s already decent international box office. It’s almost at $100 million worldwide now.
- Finally, just in time for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in 3 weeks, the trailer for the NEXT Marvel movie – “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” – premiered online today. The movie opens Feb 2023. It has a glimpse of yet another big name actor joining the Marvel Universe – Bill Murray. Also, “Kang” – a character from the “Loki” TV series – makes his big screen debut in this movie.
Finally, a little bit of humor….
If it’s parents with a lot of young children watching – they might consider “Frozen 2” a horror movie because they have to watch it over and over.
